Certifications en Lean management

« Je ne comprends rien aux niveaux de certification ! ». Pas de panique, et quelques mots d’explication. Les niveaux de certification « ceinture » n’existent, pour le Lean management, que sur le Lean Six Sigma, c’est-à-dire le Lean combiné avec les outils d’amélioration continue Six Sigma mis au point par Motorola dans les années 1980 et rendu célèbres par General dans les années 1990.

En ce qui concerne le Lean management exclusivement, il existe aussi des certifications mais pas de ceinture, sous la forme de 3 niveaux : Lean Master, Lean Leader et Lean Agile, par ordre d’expertise décroissante.  

Pour revenir au Lean Six Sigma, on répertoriera 5 niveaux ; les 4 premiers font l’objet d’une certification :

– Master Black Belt : il forme des Black Belts et Green Belts et développe des outils,

– Black Belt : il dirige au sein de l’organisation des missions d’amélioration continue de haut niveau et anime des Green Belts,

– Green Belt : il fournit aux Black Belts des données dans le cadre de projets et peut lui-même diriger des missions d’amélioration continue de plus court terme,

– Yellow Belt : il participe à des projets et promeut les effets de l’amélioration continue et des projets de niveau Black et Green au sein de l’organisation,

– White Belt : il n’est pas partie prenante à un projet mais peut mettre en place des micro-résolutions de problème opérationnel.

On notera aussi l’existence au sein des directions générales, même s’ils ne font pas l’objet de certification, des rôles de Champion, chargé de transformer le cap de l’organisation en objectifs clairs et chiffrés, et d’Executive, responsable de la mise en phase du projet Lean Six Sigma avec la culture de l’organisation.

Il n’existe pas de certification « officielle », au sens d’une réglementation d’Etat ou d’un consensus professionnel, exceptée celle de l’American Society for Quality (ASQ) et ses représentants nationaux. Mais il ne faut pas s’y limiter. De grands cabinets de conseil, des organismes de formation reconnus (y compris de grandes écoles et universités) et des groupes internationaux (GE, par exemple !) proposent l’obtention d’un certificat par voie externe ou interne (lorsqu’on en est salarié) après une formation sérieuse et un examen obligatoire. On se fiera à la réputation du fournisseur et au réseau d’anciens pour faire son choix…
