La presse se fait souvent le relais d’expérimentations malheureuses du Lean management dans des organisations privées ou publiques. Rappelons que le Lean management est une technique de management opérationnel qui vise à produire mieux avec moins de ressources en plaçant les contributeurs à la valeur ajoutée générée par l’entreprise au premier plan.

C’est vrai : le Lean n’est pas toujours ni bien compris ni bien mis en œuvre. Il se peut qu’il soit même promu parfois par des entrepreneurs sous couverts de projets plus funestes de réduction d’effectif et de chasse aux coûts pas réellement justifiés.

Que faut-il pour réussir sa démarche Lean ? Le Lean management fonctionne et il le prouve ! Toyota l’utilise dans ses usines du monde entier depuis près de 70 ans. Et il n’est pas utile de prouver à quel point la firme japonaise est performante et rentable.

Le Lean a comme pré-requis l’investissement total de la direction générale et son inclusion dans la démarche stratégique et qualité de l’entreprise. Il exige aussi un « promoteur » de tous les instants, à la fois capable de s’investir durablement sur le terrain aux côtés des opérateurs, rester à l’écoute des collaborateurs soucieux d’améliorer leurs méthodes de travail, et de prendre le recul nécessaire à l’analyse du rendement et la proposition de nouveaux schémas d’organisation des tâches.
